Valentines for Rosies & Vets!
Our Sisterhood of the Traveling Crafts traveled to a local senior center, where the seniors helped us make valentines for the WWII Rosie the Riveters and the WWII Veterans.
WWII Veteran George Celebrates 100th Birthday
Our dear WWII Veteran, B-24 nose gunner George Leland, celebrated his 100th birthday with friends and family. Our Michigan Rosies Executive Director, Jeannette Gutierrez, had the pleasure of presenting him with congressional honors, courtesy of United States Congresswoman Debbie Dingell. Two of his favorite WWII Rosie Friends were in attendance to help him celebrate his milestone birthday.
Michigan Rosies Celebrate Christmas with Veterans
Our Michigan Rosies and WWII Vets celebrated the holidays at an event hosted by ONE Stop Veteran Resources (with special thanks to Darlene Soave) at the historic Michigan Theater, along with Vets of all conflicts and some wonderful schoolkids! Rose and Deb, our favorite Christmas Elves, added holiday cheer to the occasion, while the WWII Rosies shared their wish lists with USMC Santa and Vietnam Vet Mrs. Claus.
WWII Rosie on National Podcast
What a privilege and an honor it was to bring ‘Rosie’ Delphine on the SocialFlight Live podcast. In appearing on the live aviation-themed video cast, Delphine joins the ranks of the US Surgeon General, actor Treat Williams, and countless NASA astronauts. Host Jeff Simon was a joy to work with, and Delphine was was a very engaging and articulate guest.
Presenting... The Ypsilanti Historic WWII Self-guided Tour Map!
In keeping with our mission to educate and to preserve Rosie's legacy, we are so proud to share this exclusive Michigan Rosies (Rosie the Riveter Association of Michigan) Ypsilanti Historic WWII Self-guided Tour Map that we created! It offers a self-guided drive and/or stroll through Ypsilanti's rich WWII history centered on Ford's famous Willow Run Bomber Plant and its over 40,000 workers, many of whom were "Rosie the Riveters!"
USO-style Show in Garden City
Our Michigan Rosies and WWII Vets were guests of honor at a USO-style show in Garden City. We danced to the dulcet sounds of the Depot Town Big Band, and Veterans of all conflicts were honored!
Rosie Sweetheart Jewelry Tea
We love bringing our Michigan Rosies out to mingle with the community, and organizer Jeannette Gutierrez arranged this lovely Rosie Tea event in partnership with the Newton of Ypsilanti, and elegant and historic event venue.
Rosie Craft Show in YTown 2024
We love bringing our Michigan Rosies to the Ypsilanti Township Rosie Craft Show, and the community loves meeting them!
Rosies in Ypsilanti 4th of July Parade 2024
Every year we bring our WWII Michigan Rosies and WWII Michigan Veterans to the Ypsilanti 4th of July Parade. This year they were chauffered in style by our friend Lee Jacobson. We all went out for lunch afterward and had a grand time.
Rosie Factory Lunch
We brought our Michigan Rosies to a modern Michigan factory – Munters Global – to have lunch with some of today’s women factory workers! Our friends from the Capital Area Manufacturing Council and girls from a local high school robotics team joined us as well. Everyone was honored to share lunch and swap stories with the WWII Rosie the Riveters who paved the way!
Henry Celebrates 100th Birthday
Henry is a WWII Defense worker and husband of our friend Rosie Emma. He turned 100 this month and family threw him a big party with plenty of friends and plenty of cake! Henry tried to enlist in WWII but was turned down because he was born in Germany. So he worked for the war effort helping to build defense factories and worker housing.
Rosie Gold Medal Reunion
Organizers Jeannette Gutierrez and Bette Kenward brought together Michigan Rosies from all over metro Detroit to savor the honors received when the Rosie the Riveters of WWII were awarded, collectively and symbolically, the Congressional Gold Medal.
D-Day at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial
Our Rosies were offered VIP tickets to the Grosse Pointe War Memorial’s D-Day Commemoration event. It was a perfect day and the ceremonies were very moving. Our Tuskegee friends were there, and live big band music got everyone dancing!
Rosie Virginia Birthday at the Bomber
We brought Rosie Virginia and friends to our favorite place, the Bomber Restaurant i Ypsilanti for a birthday celebration! Virginia got the royal treatment from Bomber owner Johanna McCoy and her staff, and the food was great as always!
Rosie Honor Visit for Lola's Birthday
We love paying Rosie Honor Visits! And WWII Rosie Lola along with guests from her senior living facility, enjoyed cake and festivities in honor of Lola’s birthday. The other seniors got to learn more about their neighbor Lola and her experiences as a Rosie in WWII.

Rosie 103rd Birthday Wave and Walk-by
We coordinated with our friends at the City of Dearborn to honor WWII Rosie Helen on her 103rd birthday! Mayor Hammoud, U.S. Congressional Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and Sate Rep. Byrnes helped celebrate, along with the fire and police departments and Honor Riders from the local VFW.
2nd Annual Rosie Day at the Capitol in Lansing
Rosie Day at the Lansing Capitol is becoming a proud Michigan tradition! It brings together modern women in manufacturing from the factory floor to the C-suite, together with the women who started it all, the WWII Rosie the Riveters. This year brought many special guests including Governor Whitmer. Over 500 people came out to join in the fun at this free community event, open to all.
WWII Rosie and WWII Vet Celebrate Birthdays
Rosie Friend Jeannette organized a birthday party for the group’s WWII Veteran George and WWII Rosie Emma! Guests enjoyed delicious pizzas at The Rusted Crow restaurant, and the restaurant’s aviation and Rosie-themed decor took us all back in time.
