2nd Annual Rosie Day at the Capitol in Lansing

Rosie Day at the Lansing Capitol is becoming a proud Michigan tradition! It brings together modern women in manufacturing from the factory floor to the C-suite with the women who started it all, the WWII Rosie the Riveters. This year brought many special guests including Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Over 500 people came out to join in the fun at this free community event, open to all. A girl’s robotics team gave demonstrations and winners of a student Rosie-themed contest were in attendance. There was an exciting flyover of vintage planes with female pilots. A riveting station was set up to attendees could try their hand. Our group’s Jeannette Gutierrez is thrilled to be a founding co-organizer of the event. Friends Jane Vass (who also gave a moving speech to the group!) and Rose Davis helped keep our WWII Rosies comfortable at the event. Beautiful red lap throws were handmade by Rosie Delphine and her daughter Diana.
